One advantage of staying at The Folly is that you could, if you so wished, eat out somewhere different every day for a week at somewhere within walking distance.
Here are some of the options, in no particular order:-
The Golden Lion , Duke Street (01729 822203)- nearby hotel with a pub-like atmosphere. Roaring log fire in winter. Dine pub-style or in the restaurant. We think it's excellent and good value. In the winter their ‘Beat the Clock' deal is unbeatable - 2 courses for £6 at 6pm, £7 at 7pm etc.
The Royal Oak , Duke Street / Market Place (01729 822561)– 2 star hotel, again with a pub-cum restaurant ambience. Lovely wood? panelling and ingle nook fireplace. Settle Rotary Club meets here, which must be a good recommendation.
The Falcon Manor, Duke Street (01729 823814)– on the outskirts of town in the Skipton direction. A posh hotel or a comfortable pub. Good sitting-outside areas. Bowling green. Their 'Steak Night Friday' is a bargain.
The Black Horse (01729 822506) at Giggleswick, beside Giggleswick Church. Bags of brasses and excellent food. Pleasant patio dining area at the back.
Ravenous Restaurant, Market Place (01729 822277). Upstairs above a shop but do not be put off by the approach. The food is straightforward and excellent.
The Ruchee Indian restaurant or take-away. Down the courtyard opposite the Golden Lion. Superb Indian food but it can be busy. Look out for their ‘as much as you can eat' deals. Licensed but you can take your own drink and they do not charge corkage.
The Royal Spice Indian restaurant or take-away, Market Place. Cosier than The Ruchee and also excellent. Here again, take your own drink.
China China Chinese takeaway, Duke Street near Settle Church. Excellent Chinese food.
Fish and Chips . There are two – one alongside the China China and one (nearer) at this end of the Shambles.
The Little House Restaurant, Duke Street opposite the end of Station Road.
The Harts Head , Belle Hill, Giggleswick (822086)
The Station Hotel (01729 823623)– on the by-pass opposite Giggleswick railway station.
Town Centre Cafes There are lots.
Watershed Mill serves meals.
Daisy Fresh Delicatessen (opposite the front door) (01729 822834) Fancy a picnic? Take the picnic basket over the road and tell Lesley that you are staying at The Folly. She will assemble the picnic of your dreams. Prices depend on menu but it will be memorable. She prefers a couple of days notice if possible and can provide wine if required. If you want to be really stylish about it, we can see about using one of the Model T Fords.
The following are a short drive away...
The New Inn at Clapham (015242 51203)- excellent home cooked food. The pub is the spiritual headquarters of the Cave Rescue Organisation. Sit outside and watch the fish in the river.
The Plough at Wigglesworth (01729 840243). Pleasant sitting out area or there is a large conservatory.
Austwick Country House Hotel (or The Traddock) (015242 51224)

The Helwith Bridge Hotel at er, Helwith Bridge. A no-nonsense quarrymen's' pub, also popular with caravaners. Good beer and exotic food.
